  • Stepping Up To Guide Special Delegates

    Friday, 26 June 2026

Today we received military delegations from 32 different countries, I guess. Friday usually we are closed. Yeah, it is just our day-off. But for today, was exceptional, open just for this group.

So when I arrived at the workplace, the first group had already came. I didn’t have a chance to meet them, just looking at them from far.

Then later, one of the personnel from Brunei’s armed forces approached me and asked for me to give a guide. I was refusing at first. But because there were some people who were important in the second group, a tour guide was very needed to help with the explanation and guide.

So when the second group arrived, my boss welcomed them, followed by I introduced myself and asked them to just excuse my English and asked them to communicate with me in simplified English.

It was really scary as I can’t speak English well. Because of no other choices, at last I had to fulfill the role. So some individuals from the group introduced themselves. Honestly I was nervous and couldn’t hear well their names. Then, I proceeded to explain.

There were a lot of questions. Some I couldn’t answer due to limited knowledge. But I was still satisfied because, almost 100% I could answer and share information to them regarding the history of Brunei, especially the Sarawak affairs during the 19th century until bringing the era of British residents in Brunei.
