Newborn Tested Positive for Drugs

1–2 minutes

On 12 August 2026, one newborn baby girl tested positive for drugs, which are amphetamine and benzodiazepines, after undergoing a urine screening test at Raja Perempuan Zainab II Hospital.

The newborn baby tested positive for drugs after birth because the mother took sedative, and perhaps the effect is now on the baby, but maybe not continuous. Instead, the baby may be experiencing withdrawal symptoms.

The Kelantan Health Department keeps on monitoring the baby to trace the effect on mental development and growth.
